Product information

A complete security design for vehicle access points should definitely be considered.

But which options do you have? With over 30 years of experience in vehicle identification, Nedap has a solid range of technologies suitable for many gate access applications.

Semi-active RFID solutions

Semi-active-RFID-solutionsReaders using RFID technology can be used to identify vehicles and drivers quickly and automatically from a distance. Semi-active RFID is a technology that operates with very little interference or environmental noise. The identifiers are battery powered and with that they send very strong signals. Therefore, it provides high levels of security, even in harsh environments, and are well-suited to long-range identification of trucks, ambulances, buses and taxis.

Security and efficiency

Nedap offers a TRANSIT product range of readers and tags which is based on semi-active RFID technology. TRANSIT readers and tags are ideal for use in situations where a high level of security and efficiency are important. These readers are extremely accurate and recognize vehicles and their drivers at the same time, which improves safety. They also offer an adjustable reading distance, vertical and horizontal recognition and this prevents congestion at busy times.

Resilience and reliability

Nedap has been at the forefront of semi-active RFID-based technology for decades, and our vehicle identification solutions have been installed in many industries around the world.

The high-end reader TRANSIT Ultimate is designed to perform well in high security applications, demanding vehicular access control applications and under harsh environmental conditions. Typical applications include: highly secured vehicle access at airports, seaports, mines, military bases and other installations where vehicles must be assigned to specific drivers.

Applications

  • Highly secure vehicle access at airports, seaports, mines, military bases and factories.
  • Sites where vehicles must be assigned to specific drivers.
  • Vehicular access control in difficult environments, such as sites that have to deal with heavy weather or dangerous chemicals.
  • Locations with high volumes of traffic, including multiple lanes.

Passive UHF solutions

Passive UHF solutionsBy using UHF RFID technology, vehicles and drivers can be quickly identified via a passive UHF tag or a card. It’s a cost-effective way to increase security while avoiding congestion at gated vehicle entrances and exits.

Convenient and efficient

Passive UHF technology makes it possible to identify each vehicle (and driver) quickly and securely. With this, you help to keep traffic moving and to ensure a smooth welcome. Nedap has a broad product range of passive UHF readers and tags, called uPASS portfolio. With a long, adjustable read range, it’s easy to place these readers in a suitable location, and uPASS tags can be positioned in or on vehicles for secure, automatic identification.

Secure and good value

There’s a range of uPASS readers and identifiers for different applications, environments and user groups. And they all benefit from Nedap’s decades of experience as a specialist in automatic vehicle identification.

They provide cost-effective options for vehicle access control that’s strong on security – identification accuracy is high, and communication and tag authentication is secure. With our broad range of EPC Gen2 V2 tags (which can’t be cloned) the right set up can be created for each situation and location.

Typical applications

  • Industrial sites
  • Logistics depots
  • Car parks
  • Gated communities
  • Campuses

Mobile and cards solutions

Mobile and cards solutionsAs more secure and convenient identification technologies become available, from low-frequent and high-frequent cards to mobile credentials like QR codes or virtual IDs, a multi-technology reader is a sensible investment. And one that enables use of the latest developments, including mobile access control and contactless identification.

Improve convenience, security and hygiene

Mobile access control, which lets people use their smartphone to access car parks, buildings and more, can increase convenience and security. It can even help reduce the spread of infections by eliminating the need to touch anything but your own smartphone to gain access to sites, car parks and buildings.

The flexibility to choose identifiers

It might not, however, be convenient to issue everyone with a virtual access card. For visitors, it may be more streamlined to send a QR code from the visitor management system. Or it might be preferable to continue using smartcards or proximity cards for employees, instead of or as well as mobile access.

Nedap offers a solution called NVITE, which allows the use of a variety of identifiers and technologies at each entrance including:

  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
  • Near-field Communication (NFC)
  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
  • QR codes
  • Smartcards and proximity cards

So the best option can be provided for each vehicle, person and situation.

In addition, Nedap Mobile Access provides you with easy, secure pass management. Flexibility and scalability can be at your fingertips using your favorite mobile devices.

Applications

  • Pre-registered visitor access – e.g. using QR codes.
  • Multi-tenant vehicle access control – e.g. using mobile access control.
  • Vehicle access for staff at office buildings – e.g. using mobile access control and smartcards.
  • Convenient access to car parks, office buildings and warehouses, and through perimeter gates.

License plate recognition solutions

License Plate Recognition solutionsLicense Plate Recognition (LPR) or Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is a technology that identifies vehicle registration plates by utilizing optical character recognition. Nedap’s ANPR products allow for long-range identification of vehicles, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of applications.

A convenient solution

LPR or ANPR is a great solution for granting temporary or incidental vehicle access for employees or visitors. It is a good-value choice that makes it easy for reception teams, as there’s no need to issue (expensive) tags to visitors. It can also be used for ongoing vehicle access for employees, so they don’t experience the inconvenience of being always aware of bringing a tag to work.

Increase security and reduce queues

Nedap offers specialized ANPR cameras for exceptional accuracy and connectivity, ensuring enhanced security and smoother traffic flow at gates. This safeguards employees and visitors while reducing wait times, all while keeping costs under control.

Typical applications

  • Ensuring vehicle access control – only pre-authorized vehicles are allowed to enter.
  • Securing entry and exit gates in parking management.
  • Automatic toll roads to enable free-flow vehicle access.
  • Managing airport traffic.
