Nedap: Automated Access Control With MOOV Leisure Leads to Efficiency and Convenience at Strandcamping Oase

Imagine a vibrant summer ambiance at Strandcamping Oase in Julianadorp (The Netherlands), where up to 1,000 vehicles enter and exit the camping daily. This idyllic coastal location is gaining lots of attraction from guests. However challenges arise with the growth in popularity of this holiday destination.

The introduction Nedap's MOOV Leisure system proved to be the perfect solution to automate the vehicle access control process and optimize the vehicle check-in process. The result: an efficient flow of vehicles and significant reduction in staff workload. The entire barrier installation and MOOV Leisure implementation was successfully carried out by ST&D Apeldoorn B.V..

A sun, sea and beach vacation at Strandcamping Oase

Strandcamping Oase is located right behind the dunes, 100 meters from a beach passage to the 7 km stretch of sandy beach of Julianadorp aan Zee. The camping offers an oasis of space and tranquillity, whether you stay at the camping pitch or in a chalet.

Traffic jams at the barrier

During the summer season, about 500 to 1000 vehicles enter and exit the campsite daily, resulting in significant queues around the main entrance and exit. In the old situation a single barrier was positioned between two buildings in a bend, offering limited space to maneuver and creating congestion. In addition, both incoming and outgoing visitors had to pass through the same barrier, causing inconvenience and stress. The old pass system also created challenges with individually programmed passes issued and returned at check-in and check-out. Errors often occurred due to improper programming by staff or improper use by users, resulting in blocked access after hours.

MOOV Leisure solution for automatic access and management

Earlier this year, Strandcamping Oase decided to improve the access control process at the campsite by selecting Nedap's MOOV Leisure solution. MOOV Leisure is a software module that provides remote management of the on-site barrier systems. Through the MOOV Leisure web application, access can be granted from any location and insight can be gained into which vehicles are on the property. This information is instantly available, which saves a lot of time.

A second lane was created, to separate the incoming and outgoing lanes. In addition Nedap’s ANPR Lumo cameras were added to allow vehicles to enter based on license plate recognition. The ANPR Lumo is a license plate camera that can identify vehicles from 2 - 10 meters away based on license plate number. This solution replaced the old badge system and creates a more efficient flow of traffic, with convenience for guests. No longer do passes need to be issued. Vehicles can enter based on the license plate entered during the booking process.

ST&D Apeldoorn B.V. was responsible for the installation of new barriers and the implementation of the MOOV Leisure software. Tommy Booking Support implemented the Tommy reservation system to automate the booking process. Tommy integrates seamlessly with MOOV Leisure.

Seamless integration with Tommy reservation system

Visitors can now specify their license plate number and the period of stay when booking. The Tommy reservation system synchronizes this data with MOOV via a unique Key ID. This means that visitors can drive directly to their booked place or accommodation and register comfortably at the reception without blocking access for others. Chalet owners can also register their license plates and those of their guests via a unique 'My Environment' within Tommy. This provides accurate attendance information, which is useful for check-in and emergencies.

Improved traffic flow and customer experience

The new access control solution has brought significant benefits to Strandcamping Oase. Traffic on arrival days is now much smoother, with no waiting times for guests arriving in the evening or on weekends. Shortly before closing time, guests are notified of their license plate synchronization and receive automatic emails with their place number for a hassle-free arrival. This has significantly improved the overall guest experience and reduced stress.

In short, the collaboration and integration between Nedap, ST&D Apeldoorn, Tommy Booking has resulted in a smooth, automated access control experience for Strandcamping Oasis. Traffic flow has been improved and guests and chalet owners can enjoy a seamless check-in process.
