New Q-Park Parking Garage in Venlo: Blok van Gendt

"This is good news to start 2019", says Fred Wilkes, Director of Business Development at Q-Park. "The new parking garage fits seamlessly with the vision we already share with the municipality to keep the center of Venlo easily accessible." Last year, Q-Park took over three parking garages from the municipality. With this new-build location, Q-Park will soon offer six locations in the historic city on the Maas.

Welcoming Experience

The Blok van Gendt, which is located on Noord Buitensingel, will provide approximately 200 parking spaces. Wilkes said: “The parking garage is directly connected to the new 'Versmarkt, Eetplein, Restaurant Beej Benders', which further enhances the hospitable experience for visitors to the city. In addition, the new location offers a solution for the parking lots to be removed from the Lage Loswal area. The parking needs of residents and visitors are paramount throughout the project.”

Consortium

The contract for the development, realization and exploitation was awarded to a consortium by the municipality of Venlo, following a tendering process. Holland Immo Group is responsible for the financing, Continental Car Parks takes care of the development and construction, Kern Architects has created the designs and Q-Park takes over the operation.

Optimizing Traffic Flow

Intensive consultations were held between the municipality and all parties during the preliminary phase on optimizing traffic flows, accessibility and integration of this project. By developing the parking garage in an energy-efficient manner and by using building materials that can largely be reused, the circular parking garage will fulfil the sustainable principles of the municipality of Venlo.
