Q-Park Belgium Expands Green Infrastructure with 600th Electric Charging Point in Mobility Hubs

Q-Park Belgium recently inaugurated its 600th electric charging point as part of its ambitions around sustainable mobility solutions. Q-Park has a total of 42 parking facilities in our country, including at least 10 'Mobility Hubs', soon to be recognized in Antwerp, Brussels and Hasselt, among others.

With its Sustainable Mobility Partnership Programme, Q-Park plays an important role in the European mobility transition. Q-Park Mobility Hubs are a crucial part of this: they offer solutions for better accessibility and more liveability, sustainability and mobility equality in the city. Mobility Hubs are parking facilities that integrate different modalities and services, such as parking, charging, booking and sharing concepts for cars and bicycles. In these Mobility Hubs in particular, Q-Park focuses on installing high-quality electric charging points.

High-QualityElectric Charging Points

Q-Park started offering 4 electric charging points in 2018. That number grew to 276 in 2023 and even to 600 in early 2025. Some parking facilities offer more than 50 charging points, such as Brussels South Station (more than 80), Antwerp Kooldok (more than 70) and Antwerp Steendok (more than 50).

Q-Park strives not only to increase the number of charging points, but also to continuously improve the quality of the charging experience. The charging points are equipped with the latest technologies to charge quickly and efficiently, which ensures an optimal user experience. For example, most Q-Park charging points have a capacity of 11kw, suitable for reasonable topping up of your battery during the hours that you park.

We are very proud that we have multiplied the number of electric charging points in Belgium in just a few years, says Philip De Brabanter, Managing Director Q-Park Belgium. In recent years, we have continuously focused on making our mobility solutions more sustainable, and offering high-quality, electric charging points in our Mobility Hubs is a crucial part of this. At Q-Park, we are constantly investing in and further optimising our high-quality charging points, level 3 chargers and infrastructure. In this way, we are optimally preparing ourselves for the future. The charging capacity of our charging points is of crucial importance here – we want motorists to be able to charge quickly and easily. The infrastructure and quality of the charging point are paramount.

This focus will continue in 2025. De Brabanter: “We have the ambition to add charging points to our car parks in 2025, depending on demand. At Q-Park, we believe that cars are part of an economically vital, liveable and vibrant city, but we are happy to work on ways to reduce nuisance without reducing the accessibility of shops, schools and businesses.

The transition from street parking to off-street parking not only creates more public space above ground for greenery and culture, but also creates the necessary space and infrastructure for shared and sustainable mobility in the form of shared bicycles, shared cars and charging points.

Challenges in Implementing Electric Charging Points

Expanding the EV charging points is not without its challenges. In addition to the technical aspect in which the required equipment or the availability of installers sometimes pose the necessary challenges, it is also important that the energy supply is sufficient and efficiently managed. In addition, Q-Park 's charging points meet the highest safety standards and are continuously maintained, so that they guarantee reliable operation. And of course, all parkings are equipped for the weight of electric cars. De Brabanter: "Our commitment to providing safe, sustainable and practical parkings remains undiminished."

Q-Park in Europe

Q-Park is also continuously expanding its Mobility Hubs in other countries , and more specifically its electric charging points. For example, Q-Park as a group has grown from 534 charging points in 2018 to 6,854 charging points by the end of 2024, a tenfold increase.
