Why Q-Park Continually Invests in Its Parking Facilities
Customers at Q-Park Grand Parade in Cork will have seen a lot of works being undertaken on the flooring within the facility. This occasionally begs the question as to why Q-Park do this.
Unlike most other operators who tend to just use concrete, Q-Park uses a polyurethane floor coating and they do this for a couple of reasons. Installing this allows for easier cleaning and better protects the concrete bedrock of each floor therefore adding value to the facility over its lifetime and reduces costs from concrete repairs.
Over time this coating can start to deteriorate, this wear and tear can simply be caused by vehicles driving over the surface hundreds of times a day and all the different pollutants that they bring in with them such as oil, salt and tarmac particles. Every few years depending on the status of the surface Q-Park undertake renewal works which involve stripping off the old coating and then applying the fresh new membrane to the parking decks.
Such an undertaking does not come cheaply but is considered very worthwhile for an operator who cares about Quality like Q-Park do. Q-Park resurfaces its parking facilities to maintain a safe, efficient, and visually appealing environment for its users. A smooth, well-maintained surface ensures optimal safety by reducing the risk of accidents, slips, or trips, both for motorists and pedestrians. It also enhances the overall parking experience, making it easier for customers to manoeuvre their vehicles and navigate through the facility without obstacles.
Regular resurfacing allows Q-Park to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety, ensuring compliance with regulations and demonstrating a commitment to customer satisfaction. Moreover, the visual impact of a freshly resurfaced car park contributes to the brand’s image, promoting a clean and professional appearance that aligns with Q-Park’s dedication to excellence and reliability across all its facilities. The investment in resurfacing reflects Q-Park's long-term strategy of delivering premium, hassle-free parking services while continuously improving the condition and appeal of its car parks.
The works at Q-Park Grand Parade represented a capital investment of €750,000 and sit alongside other works that have taken place over the last few years, such as the installation of EV Charging Points into this facility. Such a project is not just a one-off at Q-Park with different works taking place over the course of the year across the country as part of a program of continual asset investment. The largest this year being the work to bring the parking facilities acquired as part of the Park Rite acquisition up to Q-Park standards.
Alastair MacDonald, Head of Commercial & Operation at Q-Park Ireland commented ‘It is always fantastic to hear positive customer feedback about the improvement we make to our facilities throughout the year. It is testament to the hard work by our teams who incessantly look to provide Quality parking to our customers.’
