West Chester, PA Brings Pay By Cell Option to Parking Meters

PassportParking has partnered with the Borough of West Chester to bring it’s leading mobile parking payments service to the Philadelphia area

PassportParking Pay By Cell option in West Chester, PA

West Chester residents will soon be able to say goodbye to running back to feed the meter. The Borough of West Chester is proud to announce it is implementing PassportParking, a mobile parking payment service, throughout all of its metered parking spaces beginning September 22nd, 2014. The new alternative to paying at the meter will provide drivers with the ability to manage their parking from their mobile phone.

In addition to letting drivers pay for parking on the go or from the comfort of their vehicle, PassportParking users can extend their parking session from anywhere using the app, mobile website, or interactive voice system. Notifications will also remind users when their parking session is about to expire.

“Paying by mobile phone provides drivers with a whole new level of convenience and flexibility when it comes to paying for parking,” said Pamela Grossman, Parking Director for the Borough of West Chester. “With Passport Mobile Pay, our customers no longer have to worry about having enough change for parking or running back to their meter to add more time. It makes parking much more convenient and lets them focus on all the great things West Chester has to offer.”

To utilize the new service, smart phone users must first download the PassportParking app for iOS or Android devices or register online at http://m.ppprk.com. Customers can also register by calling the local phone number listed on PassportParking signage.

Once registered, drivers have the option to pay using the PassportParking app, mobile website, or by calling the local toll free number. To pay, drivers simply enter the zone and space number listed on signage and then select how long they wish to stay. Both the mobile app and mobile website allow drivers to extend their parking session to the maximum time allowed, add or update payment card details, as well as manage notification and receipt options.

While the meter won’t show the time remaining, customers will not have to display any proof of payment as parking enforcement officers can view payments through a wireless handheld device.

The mobile pay service is offered by Charlotte, NC-based PassportParking, Inc. Passport currently operates in almost 100 municipalities, universities, and private parking operators nationwide, including Louisville, KY; San Jose, CA; and Omaha, NE. Beginning this month, both Carlisle, PA and Indiana University of Pennsylvania will also launch PassportParking. Passport has also developed ParkChicago, Chicago’s mobile parking payment application.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Borough of West Chester to improve the borough’s parking experience,” said Bob Youakim, Managing Partner of PassportParking. “Parkers will love the simplicity of our mobile payment option and the many conveniences our technology offers. We look forward to a long relationship with the Borough as it continues to improve the parking experience for its customers.”
