Rye Partners with Passport on End-to-end Parking Management Platform

Solution integrates mobile pay for parking, digital permits and enforcement

Rye Partners with Passport on End-to-end Parking Management Platform

The City of Rye has partnered with Passport to manage all aspects of their parking management, including enforcement, digital permits and mobile pay for parking. Passport, the global leader in mobility technology solutions, is leading the industry with a integrated approach to transportation management with a recent $5 million investment to expand its platform. The system will streamline Rye’s parking operations providing more accuracy and convenience by integrating the mobile pay, permits and citation management systems.

The first element of the launch is a customized digital permit system to help the city more efficiently manage permits in high-demand lots on the Metro North Rail line. Prior to Passport, Rye required physical permits that had to be purchased and renewed in-person. The new system allows drivers to apply for a permit online and sign-up for yearly auto-renewal. In addition, Passport uses license plate numbers, so no physical permits are needed. The permit product improves the end user experience and allows Rye to more accurately track active permits, applicants on the waitlist, and renewals, all through a digital platform.

To streamline the payment process for more than 600 non-permit spaces throughout Rye, Passport launched Passport Parking, the city’s first app that allows parkers to pay for parking from their smartphones. In addition to paying for parking, users can monitor their parking sessions, extend sessions remotely, view payment history and receive receipts. Early next year, Rye will also be launching the Passport Enforcement platform, to help city officials more efficiently identify violators and issue citations, leveraging real-time parking data and connected handheld enforcement devices.

As the world becomes more digital and interconnected, we wanted to update our systems to better serve our constituents,” said Joseph Fazzino, City of Rye Comptroller. “Passport provides a best-in-class platform to help us integrate all of our parking systems in one place. We are already hearing positive feedback from the community about the ease of use and our team has been impressed with the back-end data available to us."

At Passport, we are proud to bring solutions to our clients to help them understand and manage a complex ecosystem of mobility services,” said Conor Kelly, Passport sales director. “We are excited to partner with Rye across its parking system and provide solutions that help the city, residents and visitors.”

Passport has been investing in the New York region with partnerships in Asbury Park, N.J., and Babylon, Albany, Buffalo and White Plains, N.Y. Metro North rail riders can also manage permits and utilize Passport’s mobile pay app for more than 15,000 parking spaces along the line.

The Passport Parking app can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play or accessed online at park.passportparking.com. To apply for or renew a permit, visit ryenypermits.rmcpay.com.
