Passport Introduces Mobile Parking for Iowa City
PassportParking mobile app will be available at the University of Iowa and the City of Iowa
The City announced today that Passport will provide next generation technology for parking. Passport is the global leader in mobile payments for parking and transit, serving cities and universities throughout North America and Europe.
“Smartphones are becoming essential for more and more people,” said City of Iowa City Transportation Services Associate Director, Mark Rummel. “PassportParking® provides a fast, easy, and convenient payment option for customers.”
The new PassportParking® app makes parking easy by allowing users to purchase parking with a debit or credit card from their smartphone.
The mobile application allows users to:
- Pay for parking
- Receive alerts when parking session is about to expire
- Extend a parking session remotely (up to the maximum allotted time)
- View payment history
- Receive email receipts
The University of Iowa will also debut the parking app, PassportParking®, for students, and visitors to create a unified parking experience throughout the area.
“We’re thrilled to bring our mobile parking app to the City of Iowa and the University,” said Mike Mohler, Project Manager at Passport. “Being able to positively influence the entire parking process, from payment to extending a session remotely, through a parker's smartphone improves the overall experience students, residents, and visitors.”
Drivers can use the app to pay for more than 2,000 on and off-street parking spots in the city and more than 800 parking spaces at the university. The app can be used where PassportParking signs are displayed.
The PassportParking app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Users can also manage their parking at ppprk.com.
