Downtown Pensacola Launches Digital Permits and Mobile Pay for Parking, Powered by Passport

Downtown Pensacola Launches Digital Permits and Mobile Pay for Parking, Powered by Passport

The Pensacola Downtown Improvement Board (DIB) has partnered with Passport, the leading mobility platform serving nearly 600 clients worldwide, to provide a new digital permit system and a mobile payment app, Passport Parking. The end-to-end parking system provides flexibility and choice, serving residents who need an annual or monthly permit, drivers who periodically park downtown, and out-of-town visitors who need an easy way to pay while exploring the city.

Downtown Pensacola drivers who park in DIB-managed lots, on-street and garage parking can now pay for parking using the Passport Parking mobile app. Users download the app, select their zone number, then enter their license plate number and payment information to start a parking session. The app also provides remote session extension, parking history, receipts, and notifications when a parking session is about to end. In Pensacola, users can also prepay for parking from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday to Saturday.

Passport’s digital permit solution, which integrates with the city’s existing license plate recognition system, allows residents to purchase permits for Jefferson Street Garage and the Tarragona and North Palafox Street lots. Through the permit portal, users can create an account, purchase a monthly or annual permit for the garage or lot of their choice, and easily manage their permits online.

Passport is helping us meet our goal of providing the most flexible and hassle-free parking payment experience possible for those who live and visit downtown Pensacola,” said Lissa Dees, Pensacola DIB executive director. “Passport’s mobile pay and digital permit options, successfully being used in cities all over the world, will enable downtown drivers to focus less on parking and more on enjoying all that our vibrant district has to offer.

Passport has 30 clients in Florida, including St. Augustine, which launched mobile pay, permits and enforcement in January. Gainesville, Destin and Ft. Meyers, the University of Florida and University of Central Florida also use Passport’s mobile pay solutions and the City of Jacksonville has a Passport-powered app, MyJTA, which allows riders to buy bus passes for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority.

We work with many cities and universities in Florida to help improve their parking and mobility operations and are excited to bring Passport’s solutions to Pensacola,” said Kelsey Owens, sales director at Passport. “Our technology will create a more streamlined parking environment, helping both drivers and city officials.”

Drivers can download the free Passport Parking app from the App Store, Google Play or manage online at passportparking.com. Users can purchase and manage their permits at pensacolapermits.rmcpay.com.
