City of Beckley Launches PassportParking® Mobile App

City adds app for simpler parking payments

City of Beckley Launches PassportParking® Mobile App

Parking just got easier for the City of Beckley. The city has launched mobile parking application, PassportParking®, powered by Passport, the global leader for parking and transit payments for cities and universities across North America.

The app is available at nearly 500 parking spaces throughout the city, including on-street and off-street locations. With the app, users can efficiently pay for parking sessions from their mobile devices, as well as:

  • Monitor parking sessions
  • Extend time remotely
  • View payment history
  • Receive email receipts

The City of Beckley is thrilled to provide a new way for drivers to pay for parking from their mobile devices,” said Bill Kelly, Director of Information Technology for the City. “By partnering with Passport, we are able to make parking easier and more convenient for our residents and visitors.” The City has been divided into parking zones. These zones not only have better signage that will help people find parking, but will aid in enforcement. Each parking meter will have a decal on it letting customers know about the app.

In 2017, the Parking Commission recommended to Common Council that the PassportParking app be implemented due to the imminent arrival of WVU Tech, the construction of a new police department, and the anticipated emergence of new businesses in the uptown area. Ann Worley, Chairman of the Parking Commission stated, “Beckley is the first municipality in Southern West Virginia to offer a mobile parking app. Passport has been excellent to work with in helping us develop a user-friendly, easy way for our citizens and visitors to pay for parking and our enforcement officers to more efficiently carry out their duties.”

Passport is proud to expand its footprint in the state of West Virginia,” said Kelsey Owens, Passport regional director. “With Passport’s state-of-the-art technology, we are to able partner with the City of Beckley to digitize the parking experience and provide drivers with a convenient payment method. We are very excited to offer this option to drivers parking throughout the city.”

The PassportParking app is free to download through the App Store and Google Play. Users can also manage their parking via web at ppprk.com.
