Austin to Launch Upgraded Mobile Pay Parking App, Park ATX

Paying to park will be easy with Passport-powered app

Austin to Launch Upgraded Mobile Pay Parking App, Park ATX

This week, the City of Austin is releasing an upgraded mobile pay parking app, Park ATX. Created by Passport, Park ATX allows drivers to pay for parking with their smartphones at more than 10,000 parking spots throughout the city.

Passport has been working with Austin since 2016 and managed the city’s previous mobile pay app, ParkX. Beginning this week, users will seamlessly switch to the new app, Park ATX. There will be no interruption in service and rates will stay the same, but there will be an improved user experience.

To use the app, drivers can download Park ATX at ParkATXapp.com and easily start a parking session. Users create an account with a payment method, choose a zone number, select the length of stay and enter license plate number and vehicle information. In addition to paying for parking, app users can:

  • Receive alerts when a parking session is about to end
  • Extend parking sessions remotely
  • Review parking history and receipts

Austin has become a top U.S. tourist destination and we welcome visitors to our city to experience all that Austin has to offer,” said Jason Redfern, parking enterprise manager at the City of Austin. “With Park ATX, we are providing an easy way to pay for parking so people can spend less time looking for coins to pay the meter and more time enjoying live music, delicious barbecue and our city’s deep history.”

With the upgrade, the city has expanded to more than 500 parking zones. Drivers are encouraged to pay attention to new zone numbers, which can be found on the Park ATX signage throughout the city.

The launch to Park ATX marks an important milestone for Austin, as drivers in the city can experience an upgraded parking experience,” said Damien Howley, vice president of client success at Passport. “With Passport’s parking technology, we’re also providing city and transportation leaders with valuable information to manage their parking ecosystem.”

Park ATX can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play. Drivers can manage their parking and learn more at ParkATXapp.com.
