New parking guidance system for Audi in Ingolstadt
MSR-Traffic delivers a turnkey parking management system for more than 5,000 spaces
The freight centre GVZ Ingolstadt is directly next to the Audi factory premises on the northern outskirts of the Upper Bavarian town of Ingolstadt. It was established in 1995 in order to bring the suppliers of Audi AG closer to the plant site, and has grown steadily up to 830,000 m2 since then.
To make better use of the parking spaces for employees, partners or visitors and to minimize search traffic, MSR-Traffic has implemented an intelligent parking guidance system on behalf of IFG Ingolstadt. It is now already the second parking guidance system of MSR-Traffic for Audi - the first was installed in Neckarsulm.
The occupancy data are transmitted wirelessly in real time to LED displays
The wireless magnetic field sensors (outdoor parking) and ultrasonic sensors (indoor parking) count vehicles at the entrance and exit of parking areas or garages. With the intelligent technology of MSR-Traffic, vehicles can also be counted in both directions, i.e. even vehicles driving in the wrong direction are correctly detected and/or counted. Based on the total capacity of the parking, the available number of free parking spaces can thus be calculated at any time and passed to the drivers via dynamic displays.
Less costs for hardware, lower installation costs and greater opportunities
Via GPRS, the individual occupancy data of the parking spaces are transmitted in real time to the 22 positions around the area with each two dynamic LED displays that show the driver the way to the nearest available parking space. The modern signs are not only attached to the nearby streetlamps, but are also supplied with current by them. Again, the system shows its high intelligence: As the streetlamps are only powered at night, the power supply of the displays has a battery backup, which is automatically activated when needed.
The system and the individual components can be conveniently operated from anywhere with the ParkGard® Control Center, a web based user interface. That way traffic data can be visualized and evaluated in real time or if necessary integrated LED displays can be configured manually or automatically by the software. If individual devices fail, the error is immediately displayed in the software and can be selectively repaired.
