Albstadt – progress is a tradition here
MSR-Traffic supplies an outdoor parking guidance system with wireless single-space sensors
Albstadt is located in southern Baden-Württemberg on the Swabian Alb, around halfway between Stuttgart and Lake Constance. In keeping with the slogan of the largest town in the Zollernalb district, with almost 50,000 inhabitants, Albstadt has now had a modern car-park routing system installed by MSR-Traffic.
All 90 parking spaces in Albstadt's Schmiechastrasse are equipped with wireless magnetic field sensors from MSR-Traffic. These detect vehicles of all kinds.
Battery-powered sensors detect vehicles in real-time.
Located in the centre of each parking space, the sensors detect the surrounding Earth's magnetic field. If this changes due to vehicle movements, this is also registered by the sensor. This change of the occupancy status - free or occupied - is transmitted to a server from MSR-Traffic, which in turn feeds the display boards in the town.
Modern LED displays
The totem poles and displays, which are similarly equipped with wireless communication, show drivers the way to the next free parking space in real-time and indicate the total number of free spaces. A large part of the otherwise usual car-park search traffic is eliminated and CO2 emissions are lowered.
Every parking space in view at all times
The system and the individual components can subsequently be evaluated and remotely controlled from anywhere in the world using the ParkGard® Control Centre, a web-based user interface. This software enables the town to generate the most diverse statistics.
Thanks to the intelligent technology from MST-Traffic, not only the inhabitants are able to find a parking space more quickly in their town. Visitors and tourists in particular now spend less time looking for parking spaces and have more time for the town, which is reliant on tourism. That contributes decisively to the positive enhancement of the entire town centre of Albstadt.
