Expo Parking 2013 presents solutions for shortage of spaces in parking facilities

According to the most recent study on car manufacturing, conducted by international consultant Jato Dynamics, Brazil is the fourth largest car manufacturer in the world, following China, the United States and Japan. The large number of cars on the road stands out even more when compared to the shortage of parking spaces in parking facilities in the large metropolises. The result is a chaotic traffic pattern and compromised urban mobility. Experts affirm that increasing parking spaces is essential for solving the traffic problems in major cities. However, there is a lack of physical space to build new parking facilities.

Maurício Fontes, an engineer at Krebs, a parking solution provider, states that the answer is to present solutions for peak times when there is a higher number of vehicles entering and exiting. “In most cases, mechanical systems and solutions can speed up the entry and exit of vehicles, increasing the number of available parking spots and optimizing facilities.” The engineer also explained that this solution avoids the higher costs of acquiring or leasing large lots and reduced the cost of excavations or construction of high-rise parking facilities. Investments can be done in stages, in accordance with increased vehicle demand.

KREBSFER Industrial, a Brazilian company with 46 years of experience in solutions and new technologies for the parking sector, will attend Expo Parking 2013 with the Duo Park equipment, a parking elevator. The solution creates space, hence the name Duo Park: two parking spaces instead of one. According to Fontes, the concept of “mechanical parking spaces”, whether automated or not, is already being used in many other countries with a high approval rate. “These mechanical solutions offer a series of benefits compared to the conventional horizontal systems,”explains the engineer. Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, Hospital São Camilo and Hospital Cruz Azul are some of the company’s clients that are already using DuoParks.

After two successful editions, Expo Parking 2013 is moving to a bigger pavilion to give space to the growing request for stand space. The event that provides the only platform 100% focused on on-street and off-street parking, will bring together suppliers of parking solutions and parking operators from both public and private organizations.
