APCOA: Electromobility Needs Infrastructure - The Need for 2030

Electromobility has developed rapidly in recent years. In 2024, there were around 1.4 million e-cars on German roads - and there could be even more! 

However, the expansion of the Ladeinfrastruktur often reaches its limits: Finished charging parks often remain unused because the power grid cannot be provided in time. A recent study by the Nationale Leitstelle Ladeinfrastruktur shows that up to 680,000 publicly accessible charging points will be needed in Germany by 2030 – including 68,000 High Power Charging (HPC) stations with over 150 kW of power. However, there are currently only around 150,000 publicly accessible charging points in the country. Something has to be done here!

As the leading parking operator in Europe, we are taking up the challenge: APCOA plans to install 100,000 new e-charging stations at over 12,000 locations by 2035. These networked solutions turn our parking garages into central Mobilitäts hubs and ensure nationwide coverage for the future.

In our visions, it is always important to us to use existing space – such as in our central multi-storey car parks – efficiently and in a future-oriented manner. In this way, we are driving forward the expansion of the charging infrastructure and creating the basis for emission-free Mobilität.
