What you will do

  • Perform on-site technical service support for large base of WPS parking system end-users in the municipal, institutional and commercial sectors within the Southern Ontario region. A company vehicle and gas card will be provided.
  • Perform in-shop repairs on a wide range of electronic, mechanical and computer-based products.
  • Provide customer telephone support and remote desktop support.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, testing, customer training and commissioning for new WPS parking system projects.
  • Assist with in-shop quality control product testing and product development testing during beta and site-trial phases of product releases.
  • Prepare equipment and software prior to deployment.
  • Perform occasional out of town service calls throughout Ontario.
  • Perform on-call after-hours service on a regular rotation with a team of field service technicians, i.e. Each technician is on-call two weeks out of every two-month cycle. After-hours service is provided Monday to Friday from 5PM to 9PM and on weekends from 8AM to 9PM. Field service technicians are paid a daily rate for on-call service coverage.

Note: On some occasions it may be necessary to work overtime hours to complete assigned jobs. WPS field service technicians are paid an overtime premium rate for additional hours worked that exceed 44 hours per week.

What we are looking for

  • Electronics Technician Diploma or Electronics Engineering Technologist Diploma from an accredited post-secondary school institution -or-
  • Computer Engineering Technician or Computer Engineering Technologist Diploma from an accredited post-secondary school institution.

Working knowledge of:

  • Windows and Linux Computer Servers and Workstations
  • Microsoft Windows and Linux Operating System Fundamentals
  • MS-SQL Database Engines
  • Programming in C++ language and Java Script
  • Network Devices-Routing and Switching Essentials
  • Electronics circuits
  • Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Relay logic
  • Electric motors and associated control devices
  • Good organization skills
  • Valid driver’s license/ abstract to be provided
  • Good written and oral communication skills

WPS prefers candidates with at least three (3) years field experience working in a role that requires similar skills and knowledge; preferably working in a related industry, e.g. Security Alarm Systems, Building Control Systems, Video Camera Systems.

Hours

08:00 – 17:00, 1 hour for lunch, and two 15 minute breaks
