It’s almost weekend! That’s always good news, but this time it’s even better because it means that there are only 2 days left until the 4th edition of our Airport Parking Network Event! Unfortunately I can’t be there myself (somebody has to keep the business running, right?), but I wish you all a great time in Lisbon!
Okay, that’s enough advertising. Let’s get back to what I was saying: It’s almost weekend and what do lots of people like to do on the weekend? That’s right: Shopping! But what is more annoying than entering the city center and not being able to find a parking space of having to pay too much for one? In Nottingham, UK, they think they have the solution to this common on-street parking problem. They have removed all maximum parking stay times and changed the parking rate per zone per time of the day and / or week. For example: One hour parking in the city center costs the same as two hours of parking in Zone 2 etc.
The city of Palo Alto, California, is also looking for a solution to their public parking problem. Lots of residents complain about the current parking situation. The people who live outside of the city center, where there’s no parking time limit, complain that other people park their car there before heading off to the city to work. After the Council voted down the plan for creating a residential permit-parking plan, they are considering multiple changes like building a new parking garage, introducing valet parking or make changes to the zoning system. Other ideas include parking apps and other technical solutions.
