Yesterday I published a news item about Scheidt & Bachmann at Automechanika 2012, the international meeting place for the automobile sector. PetrolPlaza made a video review of this event. On YouTube you can see interesting interviews with professionals from Scheidt & Bachmann, Hectronic and many more during Automechanika 2012. Hectronic caught attention with the PetroLine Mobile App for intelligent filling station management and Scheidt & Bachmann presented the Clou with an integrated banknote processing unit and the cutting-edge mobile application “Mobile NMS”.

The City of Westminster, the largest Parking Authority of the UK, is improving their public parking situation by taking control of parking data. They have built a system to analyze parking trends and direct traffic accordingly. Before the new system, a lot of data like parking tickets and pay-by-phone transactions were collected at different sources. Therefor the City did have lots of data, but not a good overview of the situation. This prevented the Westminster City Council from even the most simple analyses. They managed to migrate three years’ worth of parking data into an existing departmental data warehouse. Now they can analyze and visualize the data with the use of QlikView’s in-memory business intelligence solution. The city is currently trialing a smartphone app that enables drivers to see where parking spaces are available.
