Commuters in Perth, Australia, can now pay for parking with their public transport card. Transperth is calling all commuters to register for SmartParker, which is the new of the new cashless, ticketless parking payment system.
People can connect their license plate number to their SmartParker account. After using SmartParker people should tag into a bus or train, otherwise they aren’t able to use SmartParker the next time.
Enforcement officers can check if the parking session is paid for by using license plate recognition software. The reason why people have to tag in to public transport after using SmartParker is to ensure that the spaces are used by Transperth passengers only.
