Riding a bike is good for your health, but also for the cities health. Socially and economically the city can benefit, so why not improve and expand the cities bike parking facilities?
In 2008, a student of the University of Melbourne wrote a thesis after doing research, showing that not only bike parking brings five times more revenue with respect to car parking, but the study shows that customers arriving on foot or by bike, tend to spend more money than people arriving by car.
Some other advantages of bike parking are low investments and high revenue, time-saving, it takes less space than car parking. So the payoff can be way greater.
Of course, car parking will stay bigger for a city, as a lot of tourists and people from other cities won't be visiting by bike, but we shouldn't be in denial when it comes to the advantages bike parking brings to the city.
