New Yorkers can now use a new pay-by-phone option that allows them to not only pay for parking, but also for valet. You know what this means? When you head back to your car, you can give the valet a heads up when you’re about to leave, and when you enter the parking facility your car is already waiting for you. On your mobile phone, you can track the costs for parking as time adds up. It also means no more waiting in line for paying, no more hassle with coins, and the app will send you a message when your meter is running out of time, giving you the chance to extend via phone.
All users have to do is register online: enter their name, credit card and license plate, and they’re off to go. With the Pango app you can easily find open parking spaces.
Pango mobile parking is currently only available in private parking garages, but we believe it will soon extend to public parking facilities. Pango is in contact with the New York City DOT to see how to implement the service in public parking.
Pango also has an idea that involves the MuniMeters in New York City: By collecting real time parking data, they could do things like send messages to people when parking spaces open up in a specific area, but that’s a thing for the future..
Not only in New York, but also in Phoenix people can now enjoy the convenience of the pay-by-phone app. In New York they partnered with Imperial Parking Systems, and in Phoenix Pango partnered with Red Development’s CityScape.
