In 2012, Digital Payment Technologies (DPT) began replacing parking paystations in Miami Beach, Florida, and placed 344 new ones. As of the end of 2014, Miami Beach wil have 750 of DPT's Luke II paystations with License Plate-Enabled Parking System (LEP) which makes it possible to pay-by-license plate.
“Our goal in implementing License Plate-Enabled Parking is to provide visitors and residents with an easy solution that uses one unique parking identifier across the board – the license plate,” said Saul Frances, director, City of Miami Beach Parking Department. “With DPT’s LUKE II pay stations at the center of this system, consumers will appreciate an intuitive and convenient way to park that will also make operations more efficient, thanks to the pay stations’ integration with enforcement technologies from Genetec and OmniPark.”
Imagine parking your car without the hassle of picking up a parking ticket to display beneath the windshield, but instead park your car and simply enter your license plate number at the pay station and continue to go on to your destination. DPT's integration with Parkmobile also adds mobile payment as an option for the costumer.
“DPT’s parking technology is built with integration in mind and serves as the foundation for integrating multiple LEP technologies, and Miami Beach is truly leading the nation by implementing a holistic system that will benefit the city and consumers alike,” said Chris Chettle, senior vice president, sales at DPT.
It seems that, by the end of 2014, Miami Beach will have succesfully implemented cashless parking payment as the new standard and by doing so, making our lives a little bit easier.
