Exact Counting on Ramps and at Cross-sections of Car Parks and Underground Parking

Exact Counting on Ramps and at Cross-sections

Exact counting on ramps and Cross-sections

Inexact counting on ramps and at cross-sections in car parks and underground parking facilities is a thing of the past. The MagSense magnetic field sensors system ensures exact counting along with simplest installation.

Mobilisis has expanded its portfolio concerning the detection of single parking spaces by the MagSense 3DTC traffic counter. MagSense 3DTC is perfectly suitable to count vehicles on ramps and at cross-sections of car parks and underground parking facilities. 70 measurements per seconds even allow to measure speeds of up to 220 km/h in outdoor areas.

The technologies used so far like ultrasonic sound and light barriers have a high and there-fore unacceptable error rate due to passing pedestrians, baggage carts (airport), dirt, vibrations, wind etc.. None of these influences play a role regarding detection with MagSense. The system runs absolutely stable at minimum maintenance effort.

FunctioningMagSense 3DTC

Its functioning is downright simple and brilliant. MagSense detects the passing vehicles through the carriageway.

Since the sensors only react to ferromagnetic material, the above-mentioned influences do not affect its extremely high accuracy of detection. Above all, the sensitiveness of the sensors can be modified after their installation. This allows the later adjustment to newer generations of vehicles as well as the detection of both low-magnetic vehicles and vehicles of high ground clearance (e.g. SUVs).

Especially those vehicles pose more and more problems even today – e.g. for inductive loops at gates. Detection by MagSense is accurate, if measured through reinforced-concrete floors as well as steel floors.

Installation

Magsense

Equally simple is the installation of the sensor system. The sensors can either be mounted directly to the ceiling or they are laid in pre-installed empty conduits. This kind of installation bears the advantage that the basic structures of the building, in particularly the carriageway, will not be damaged. At the lowest floor the sensors are laid in narrow, tra-versable cable conduits or below road stones.Data transmission

Data transmission can directly be linked to dynamic signposting or to a parking management system. It can be effected alternatively via

  • GPRS,
  • CAN,
  • RS485,
  • RS232 oder
  • Ethernet

Hereby, data transmission via GPRS has the advantage of clearly reduced installation costs since the data cabling of the system can be omitted completely.

MobiliSis offers interested customers individual, selected components but also a complete system from one source, which works fully independently, including the magnetic field sensor system, parking management and dynamic signposting.

The above-described system has been installed by MobiliSis at the Airport Cologne-Bonn, in P3, its largest car park. This car park has more than 6,500 parking spaces, arranged on 8 floors.

Especially in such large facilities it is very important that passengers are informed quickly on the number and location of the last vacant parking spaces. The information they get is based on the counts on ramps (between the floors) as well as at cross-sections (between the sectors of a floor). Here, data is transmitted via GPRS and a. o. to a dynamic sign indicating the vacant parking spaces.

Buy data not sensors

MagSense

MobiliSis offers high-quality applications based on the MagSense magnetic field sensor system. Their use is very efficient and helps maximizing economic profit. However, the technology around the magnetic field sensor system is new and customers may not yet fully assess its effectiveness. Although the installation costs of the complete system may not be financed out of the daily business, using such a powerful vehicle detection system may still be highly interesting.

SaaS

In that case MobiliSis offers its business model „Buy data not sensors“. It allows the realization of a project in an acceptable way. MobiliSis installs a fully functioning vehicle detection system based on MagSense sensors, which meets the respective specific requirements. The data acquired by the sensors are transmitted via internet (24/7) directly to our servers and processed and evaluated there. Owing to the outplacement of the hardware the costs can be reduced; at the same time optimum data management and software maintenance is ensured (SaaS – Software as a Service).

Thus, the incurring costs amount to a monthly fee for the purchase of the acquired and evaluated data. If requested, MobiliSis can also integrate the data obtained in existing websites to provide customers with optimum information on the current parking situation.

About MobiliSisMobiliSis logo

The MobiliSis team consists of experts who have year-long experience in the field of magnetic field sensors as well as in hardware and software development.

From the development of the hardware, the programming of the entire software (decision logics, firmware, communication, etc.) to the manufacturing and conception of comprehensive systems you will get all elements from one source.
