Adapting a unique software application with BOSSCARS

BOSSCARS is a system built exclusively for college and university campus parking operations. Using BOSSCARS, your office can manage parking permits, citations, appeals, and much more, all while communicating in real-time with your existing Oracle-based Campus Information Systems.

BASELINE BOSSCARS

The main feature offered of our baseline software is direct, real-time integration with Oracle-based Campus Information Systems such as Banner or PeopleSoft.   Because of this feature, your office has immediate access to student information for use in permit registration, issuing tickets, managing appeals, and submitting payment information to the Bursars office.
The Baseline package comes with a license for an unlimited number of users and machines for simultaneous use.  This means you can have users in the Bursars office, the Parking office, and in the field logged on simultaneously without the need to purchase additional licensing.

Over 60 standard reports allow you to view and analyze data for any purpose.  Custom reports can also be placed in the system should the need arise.

Finally, BOSSCARS allows great flexibility when setting security levels.  With our security capabilities, you can allow Bursars office users access to only specific fields required for payment processing, Parking Office work study students access to only Permit Registration fields, and Parking Administrators full access to all tables.

MODULES

BOSS SOFTWARE offers many modules, providing the ability to customize a BOSSCARS package to meet the specific needs of your Campus Parking Department.

The following modules can be added to the Baseline system to enhance functionality as your Parking Office needs.  These modules will all take advantage of BOSSCARS real-time connection to the main Campus Information System as necessary.

Handheld Ticket Writing

This module makes it easy for officers to look-up vehicles and retrieve boot/tow/VIP information, previous citations, and permit status using handheld ticket writing computers.  Ticket writers use drop-down lists populated from the main BOSSCARS system when issuing citations, so most data entry errors are eliminated and citations are written with greater speed.  A Chalk Time feature tracks vehicles in timed parking areas.
The handheld computers retrieve up-to-date BOSSCARS and Banner data during each synchronization, ensuring your officers are enforcing parking rules with accurate data.  At the end of an officers shift, citations are uploaded into BOSSCARS and automatically associated with customer accounts in Banner without duplicating data entry.
Automatic backups give you the assurance that, even if a handheld is damaged, the citation information entered during a shift is safe.

Web Interface

This module allows customers to apply for parking permits, register vehicles, retrieve citation information, submit appeals, and view a history of their parking account via Single Sign-on. It eliminates long lines in the parking office at registration time and reduces or eliminates data entry by parking staff. Every component of the BOSSCARS Web Interface is easily customizable through the front-end by the BOSSCARS software administrator.

Online Payments

Used in conjunction with the BOSSCARS Web Interface, the Online Payments module allows customers to pay for permits or citations online, without requiring the University to hold PCI Security Certificates. Secure external pages collect payments by integrating the Web Interface module with third-party payment services.  Once the payment has been made through the third-party and returned to the institution, BOSSCARS will automatically update the customers account in the Parking System as it is updated through the Bursar.

Cash Drawer

This module allows parking staff to take and track payments for the Parking Office, and perform reliable and accurate bookkeeping.  It sends financial data to the Campus A/R System, allowing your Bursar to be the single point of collection on your campus. The Cash Drawer Module provides the option of collecting revenues in the Parking Office or through the Bursar.  Regardless of where the payments are collected, this module ensures and all financial data is reconciled through the Bursar.

Events Management

This module assists in planning, management, and tracking of scheduled events that impact parking operations for specific parking facilities by tracking the allocation of resources, costs, staff, lots, tickets, permits, and third parties. It creates invoices and tracks financial issues associated with parking requirements for events and provides flexible reporting by day, week, and date range.

DMV Interface

This module allows your office to send license plate information to a DMV retrieval service for registered owner information.  The information returned by the DMV is inserted into BOSSCARS and automatically associated with outstanding citations.  This module is only for vehicles not already registered in BOSSCARS.

Lottery

This module assigns priorities to customers for limited parking permits. At the time of drawing, the Lottery automatically assigns permits to the winners.  Customers can prioritize which parking permits they want the most and they will automatically receive a permit according to Lottery outcome and customer priorities.

Permit Fulfillment

This module allows your office to have permits mailed directly to the customer from Rydin Decal, our recommended decal/hangtag manufacturer.

Extended User Web Access

This module allows non-Banner individuals to request a log-on to the campus parking system in order to register a vehicle, apply and pay for a permit, and appeal or pay for citations.  It is used in conjunction with the Web Interface Module.  Once a customer creates an account through Extended Web, they will have a permanent non-Banner record in BOSSCARS which will automatically associate with all of their citations and vehicle information.

BOSSGATES

This module interfaces your parking gate system with BOSSCARS.  With this module, you will be able to activate/deactivate prox cards for entry into access-controlled parking lots.  Please call for more information about which gates systems have interfaces with BOSSCARS and about the possibility of future interface developments with additional parking gate systems.

Boot & Tow

This module keeps an inventory of boots on campus and where they are being utilized. It tracks towing companies and vehicles that have been towed.  Reports provide Boot and Tow data and also allow you to print an invoice for customers.  Invoices can include directions to tow company.

Lost & Found

This module brings organization to an often chaotic process of dealing with lost and found articles. Provide better service to the campus community and ensure accountability by knowing what has been reported as lost or found and responding at once to inquiries about lost items

Key Tracking

This module tracks and manages campus keys. It allows Public Safety Office to know who has keys to buildings and rooms, assign keys to incoming employees, and manage master keys.

Payroll Deduction

This module automatically handles payroll deductions for parking permits in real-time, or sends payroll deduction to HR through a batch process.  The Parking Office can determine which permits and customer types are eligible for the Payroll Deduction option.

Hearings

This module schedules and tracks the appeal hearings process by automatically linking hearing proceedings directly to citation and appeal records.  It assigns hearings to a specific hearing officer(s), court, or appeal board, provides an easy method to enter appeal decisions and comments, and automatically notifies customers of hearing dates and outcomes.  Reports such as dockets are available online or in print.

Property Management

This module allows the institution to track and manage the repair and schedule routine maintenance of equipment and facilities.  It keeps an inventory of parking lots and facilities, parking spaces, damage to signage and other equipment, and more.
