WPS & Imtech facilitate Professional Passionates Electric Rally
On June 5, World Environment Day, over 100 electric cars took part in Europes first rally for electric cars, the Professional Passionates Electric Rally. Starting in Zaandam, the Netherlands, the electric cars competed during several stages until they reached the finish in Amsterdam. Because electric cars cannot drive without energy, WPS and Imtech facilitated the energy needed to reach the finish.
At the starting point, a car park in Zaanstad, WPS installed 18 WPS Park & Recharge stations, all connected to a central smart grid. This number will gradually increase to 60 recharging stations. And along the route several WPS Park & Recharge stations were installed as examples of the possibilities of electric transport. Facilitating an event, such as the Professional Passionates Electric Rally, is a next step in "Green Moves", a project started by WPS and Imtech that focuses on sustainable solutions in the fields of mobility and infrastructure.
Goal of the Professional Passionates Electric Rally was not to win, but to raise awareness and convince as many companies as possible to replace their existing company cars for electric ones. Many Dutch celebrities, such as former Formula 1 driver Jan Lammers and former Dutch Prime Minister Mr. Balkenende, have participated in this event.
