WPS Hand Over Keys for New Ticketless Parking System at Lelystad Airport

The new parking management system at Lelystad Airport is ready. Under a clear blue sky, Lelystad Airport officially received the keys to its parking management system last week. Project leader Sven Zijlstra presented the keys to Henk Koudijs on behalf of WPS. The ParkiD system has now been officially transferred to client NV Lelystad Airport.

Lelystad Airport is currently one of the busiest airports for General Aviation in the Netherlands. Visitors can go there for training flights, sightseeing flights, aircraft rental, aircraft maintenance, and many other activities. The airport has two large paved parking areas. Car park P1 is located directly opposite the airport building and can accommodate 150 cars. The P2 car park offers parking to visitors of the Aviodrome National Aviation Museum.

Both areas are equipped with brand new ParkAdvance equipment, which is completely ticketless. For this, we combine the best number plate cameras with our renowned ParkiD software platform. Thanks to a fast flow without stopping, this advanced solution ensures an optimal user experience. In addition, the system also requires less first and second-line maintenance work, which is beneficial for management. It is also a sustainable solution because paper tickets are no longer required.

On arrival, the number plate camera automatically recognizes the number plate of visitors, after which the barrier opens. A traffic light with symbols makes the process clearer. Visitors pay at one of the cashless payment terminals. By entering the license plate number on the touchscreen, the system calculates the parking fee due and can be paid contactlessly. The number plate camera then also reads the number plate at the exit terminal and opens the barrier. The system also offers optimal ease of use for airport employees; they automatically drive in and out based on their registration number.

The payment terminals are placed in a shelter by WPS. This way visitors can pay easily even in bad weather. In addition to supplying and installing the parking solution, WPS has also provided the necessary network equipment, field cabinets, and the installation of the necessary cabling.

In addition to the parking system at the new airport terminal, all parking facilities at Lelystad Airport are now running on a ParkiD parking solution from WPS.
