Worldsensing and Cisco Partner Up in Smart Town Project
IoT pioneer Worldsensing in collaboration with technology giant Cisco are helping the town of Katara Village to optimize mobility in and around the cultural town in Doha, Qatar.
With the vision to position the State of Qatar as a cultural hub, Katara Village was launched in October 2010 with the aim to make it a beacon of art through theatre, literature, music, visual art, conventions and exhibitions.
Due to the variety of events being held throughout the year, Katara Village experiences moments of high volume of traffic and visitors. This is why the town operations were in need of smart solutions to manage peak hour traffic and parking spaces as well as to connect all facility assets and improve collaboration between different teams.
As Cisco’s Preferred Solutions Partner, Worldsensing deployed its leading outdoor Parking Management System Fastprk as well as its Operational Intelligence solution Mobility for city control centers. Mobility provides Katara´s operators with a single interface to make decisions based on real-time and historical analytics, receive alerts and manage incidents as well as geolocate staff, assets, and roadworks. In addition, part of the solution includes a public mobile app for citizen participation as well as a private mobile app to send information on the status of the town to the control room.
