Arizona State University has selected TagMaster’s Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) System to control access to the parking areas at the main University campus in Tempe, Arizona.

The project was won in conjunction with Federal APD Inc. and Automated Access Systems, Inc. the Federal APD distributor located in Phoenix. The order covers the University’s initial requirement for 18,000 vehicle access tags, along with readers for authorising access to the parking areas.

"Winning the ASU order confirms TagMaster's leading position as a long-range RFID technology provider. It also proves that user convenience, system reliability and administration costs are becoming increasingly important factors in the planning of high-volume subscriber parking solutions", says Magnus Rehn, President, TagMaster AB.

Arizona State University is the third largest University in the United States with approximately 50,000 students and 6,000 University staff. It has 19,400 parking spaces located in 44 surface lots and 6 parking structures at its campus in Tempe.

"With the implementation of a hands-free Vehicle Access Control system, we will be able to efficiently and securely handle large volumes of traffic entering and exiting the campus, while delivering maximum user convenience”, says Mr. Ben Young, Parking & Transit Services, ASU.

TagMaster's state-of-the-art AVI equipment is interfaced to the Federal APD Automated Parking and Revenue Management Control System (ScanNet), allowing the university to centrally manage vehicle access to all of the parking areas. This system will also improve vehicle flow in and out of the parking areas and provide improved customer service.
