Smart Parking secures technology trial with Milton Keynes

Smart Parking has secured a trial with Milton Keynes Council to highlight how the company’s technology can transform the parking experience for drivers in a key off-street parking location in the town.

300 of Smart Parking’s RFID-equipped SmartEye vehicle detection sensors, linked via SmartLink data transmitters into the company’s SmartRep management application, are being installed at the B4-1 Car Park on South Second Street. The deployment will enable car park users to enter the barrier-less car park, pay, and walk away, with no need to return to their vehicle to display a ticket.

The deployment at Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England will include SmartApp, Smart Parking’s app for iPhone and Android that enables drivers to check the number of available spaces in the location. The company will also use its SmartRep software to provide trend analysis to the Council to maximise the effectiveness of management decisions.

Each SmartEye sensor detects as a parking space is occupied or vacated.   Once parked, drivers will go to a pay station or pay by phone, input their bay number and pay for a unique parking session. Space occupancy status and session payment confirmation is transmitted to the car park’s attendant.  The attendant can then review all occupied bays and check, instantly and accurately, that each session is valid, and enforce infringements quickly and efficiently where they occur.
