SKIDATA parking products nominated for international Innovation Award for second time in a row
The decision on the nominations for this year's Innovation Award sponsored by Intertraffic, the world's largest international trade fair for parking, traffic, and transport infrastructure is finally in. For the second time in a row, Salzburg-based SKIDATA AG is among the ten enterprises nominated, this time for its intelligent solution that uses mobile phones as electronic car parking tickets. SKIDATA AG is the only provider of parking management systems to be nominated.
Gartenau/Salzburg, February 5 2004 – The nomination underscores yet again SKIDATA's position as leading innovator in both software and hardware development. The decision to nominate SKIDATA's trendsetting mobile ticketing solution for car drivers was based on its technologically innovative concept, its carefully thought-out design, and its practical benefits.
International jury of industry experts
The jury consists of several noted industry experts and professionals, among them Prof. I. A. Hansen of the Technical University of Delft (Holland), and representatives of the University of Parma and the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Water Management and Public Works. As a result, the nomination standards are anything but standard, leaving only the very best entries to survive the panel's scrutiny.Intertraffic product manager Sebas van den Ende explains the importance of the Intertraffic Award: "Intertraffic provides a platform that is used for the introduction of hundreds of new products. Both the nomination and the award itself can be seen as a reward for those who manage, time and again, to surprise us with revolutionary innovations at Intertraffic. This year, the panel was particularly impressed with the outstanding quality of the submitted innovations."
Peter Schönleitner, product manager at SKIDATA AG, commented on the nomination by saying, "The ultimate goal of our research efforts is to provide new solutions that make daily life easier and to satisfy the needs and expectations of our modern society. This involves, for example, offering air travellers the ability to pre-book the closest available parking space at their destination via mobile phone. In this particular case we've succeeded in doing just that."
Intertraffic 2004 is held on March 30 – April 2 in Amsterdam. Now in its 17th edition, Intertraffic will again provide a comprehensive overview of the latest trends and developments in the design, management, and operation of parking, traffic and transport infrastructure solutions.
