LogicaCMG and SKIDATA: Mobile phone as parking ticket

The mobile phone doubles as an entrance ticket the parking client's car park of choice. Spaces can be booked in advance by telephone or over the Internet. The ticket is then delivered to the user's mobile phone in the form of a 2-D barcode ('matrix code') image. To access the car park, all one has to do is hold the mobile phone up to the scanner at the entrance gate.

No more hunting for a parking space – it's every car owner's dream. With "Mobile Ticketing", that dream has now come true. Parking tickets may be reserved any time, from anywhere. Waiting lines in front of car park entrances are reduced considerably. What is more, the electronic ticket on the mobile phone can be used for all sorts of other purposes, such as an admission ticket to sports events.

The ticketing solution, which has been provided by LogicaCMG, is already in use in the Netherlands at sports arenas and leisure parks.

SKIDATA was responsible for bringing together the LogicaCMG solution and its own parking system. At this year's Intertraffic exhibition, SKIDATA has been awarded an "Intertraffic Innovation Award" for the overall solution "Mobile phone as ticket: 2-D barcode for mobile ticketing".
