Chiles Retail Giant Cencosud Selects SKIDATA for Customer Parking Solution
With reported sales of $10 bn last year, Cencosud (Centros Comerciales Sudamericanos, i.e. Southern American Shopping Centres), reflects the ongoing steady upward trend in the South American retail industry.
To improve their customers shopping experience with enhanced parking services, they decided in 2008 to introduce leading-edge parking management for the 8,500 parking spaces at three of its top malls.
It was the quality of the solution and SKIDATAs excellent track record that convinced us, says Uwe Röhrborn, Parking Division Manager at Cencosud SA. The car park is where many of our customers get their first and last impression when visiting our malls. We wanted a parking system that ensures that these are great impressions, and we are highly satisfied that the SKIDATA solution does an excellent job of that. One reason for this is the systems ability to handle the malls various cards and permits including staff passes and contract cards for taxis and suppliers in addition to regular parking tickets. This kind of flexibility is one of our systems key strengths, explains Diego Sánchez, SKIDATAs Business Development and Area Manager for South America. There are already future plans to integrate Cencosuds own Tarjeta MAS credit card so shoppers will need only one card for their entire shopping trip.
Following its highly successful venture into the South American market with projects in Argentina and Chile, SKIDATA last year opened a subsidiary in Santiago to show commitment to the markets in that continent.
