Camera-Based Parking Guidance From Quercus Technologies Boosts the Parking Experience at Beacon Hospital in Dublin

- Dublin, Ireland
Quercus has installed a range of sensors, including single-space, two space and four space sensors.

Located in South Dublin, Beacon Hospital is one of Europe’s most technologically advanced private hospitals. With over 1,300 medical professionals, the full-service acute hospital offers expert care in all medical and surgical areas including; Cancer Care, Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, General Medicine, General Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, ENT, Radiotherapy, Radiology, Urology, Endoscopy and more.

Beacon Hospital has an underground car parking area with 300 spaces available for patient and visitor use. The car park is operated by Blue Wall Technologies. Quercus Technologies incorporated the requirements of both Beacon Hospital and Blue Wall Technologies when installing this new state-of-the-art system. Requirements included facilitating agility of movement throughout the space as well as providing complete surveillance.

To this end, 135 Spot Control units (ID model) were installed. These single space all-in-one sensors offer vehicle detection and guidance, video surveillance as well as license plate recognition of the parked vehicle. 65 ID2 sensors which control 2 spaces each and 74 ID4 sensors (control 4 spaces each) were also installed.

Thanks to these sensors, car owners have the ability to check their vehicle location at the kiosk, also provided by Quercus Technologies. LED displays guide drivers into the premises and display real-time information about available parking on each aisle. This information is generated by means of the BirdWatch Parking Suite, which then provides detail of the parking situation at any given time.

Hospitals can be places where patients and their visitors may be anxious, tired, or stressed. This new parking system provided by Quercus Technologies can help to alleviate parking-related stresses by allowing patients to quickly find a space. It facilitates easy identification of disabled spaces as well as those close to doors and elevators, a vital function in premises which have many elderly, disabled, and unwell people entering on a daily basis.
