Roof top garden party welcomes new, high-tech Heathrow car park
Q-Park London Heathrow should definitely be the first choice for those wishing to park at Heathrow, said travel writer and broadcaster Simon Calder in his opening speech.
He praised the 11 million multi-storey development not just for providing a customer-friendly car park that would rank among the worlds best, but also the land swap deal with London Wildlife Trust, which will see two hectares of former long stay car park space returned to nature.
The new, 2,000-space car park, has been designed and built with safety, security and customer service as priorities and this has been reflected in the award of the ParkMark, a police-led movement to reward car parks that help to reduce crime.
Superintendent Rupert Hollis, of Hounslow Police, said that the use of CCTV, Automatic Number Plate Recognition, barriers and photographic records played important roles in helping police reduce car crime.
This is not just a way of reducing car crime, he said. We also have to consider the threat of terrorism and the systems that Q-Park have developed and installed here will help us.
