Q-Parks high technology hospital car park is awarded ParkMark and European Standards Parking Award
Q-Parks new, 7 million, 736-space multi-storey car park at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, has not only been awarded the prestigious ParkMark award, but also the European Standards Parking Award (ESPA).
Q-Park is the only UK car park operator to hold the ESPA, and now has 11, and the Taunton car parks ParkMark award is the 56th held by Q-Park in this country. The car park opens on October 16.
Musgrove Park car park sets new benchmarks in the healthcare sector. Special cedar wood panels form a striking cladding for the building and the construction includes natural stone encased in galvanised mesh for support. But for many the highlight is the light sculpture: an art for life installation incorporated into the façade and consisting of fluorescent fittings with coloured filters installed between the angled slats.
The NHS Trust and Q-Park have designed and created a modern, technologically-advanced, safe and secure building that sets the benchmark for hospital car parks nationwide. One of the prime benefits is a reduction in traffic congestion on the surrounding roads and improved access for emergency vehicles, as well as for important deliveries and service providers.
The permanently manned car park has been designed to be light and open providing increased security and safety with wide, clearly marked parking bays and permanent CCTV coverage of entrances and exits.
Musgrove Park Hospitals car park has been developed through a 25-year Public Private Partnership (PPP) with Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust, and designed jointly by Q-Park and Potter & Holmes Architects.
