Q-Park UK cements Taunton deal
Formal contracts between Q-Park and Taunton & Somerset NHS Trust have been signed, giving the green light for Q-Park to start work on a new build multi-storey car park at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
Construction of the L7 million, 1686-space car park is due to get underway in August this year, with completion expected late next summer. Q-Park will build and operate the car park, and will take over management of all car parking at the hospital from next month.
The new car park will double the number of visitor parking spaces, solving a particularly difficult traffic situation around the site. Current queuing for patient and visitor spaces backs onto the road to the hospital, causing significant congestion and access problems for ambulances, emergencies and deliveries. As soon as work commences, including interim arrangements whilst the car park is being built, queuing will be eased immediately and visitors will benefit straight away. With Q-Park taking over responsibility for managing all parking operations, including providing a 24-hour on-site presence and handling staff parking, the Trust’s involvement will also be eased, freeing up vital time and resources.
In keeping with Q-Park’s forward-thinking approach, the car park’s design is innovative and attractive, and moves away from a traditional car park look and feel. Timber will be used for the main exterior walls and the stair towers will incorporate full height glazing. As per all Q-Park facilities, the car park will offer the highest levels of customer service, convenience and safety, as well as offering a very stylish environment.
