Q-Park expands number of charging points with The New Motion

EV Chargers

Together with The New Motion, Q-Park will expand the number of charging stations in its parking garages. There are only 136 working right now, but there will be 224 within six months. Afterwards, Q-Park and The New Motion will look for other structural and sustainable solutions that can be applied to its parking locations such as the use of solar energy and charging walls that can simultaneously service large numbers of users.

For a long time, offering services to electric drivers has been a focal point of parking services. In 2012, the first charging station in a Q-Park garage was installed. If you count all the charging sessions since 2012, it adds to 13,000 days charged in Q-Park. As of now, there are about 6,000 charging sessions per month at Q-Park locations accounting for a total monthly savings of 35 tons of CO2. With the energy that was necessary to recharge cars for the first ten month of this year, over 125 households can be powered for a whole year.

Q-Park has chosen The New Motion to deliver tailor-made charging solutions because of the growing demand for electric cars. With over seven years of experience in designing, installing and managing smart charging stations and charging networks, The New Motion is Europe's largest provider of smart charging solutions.

The 88 new charging stations will be installed in 13 different locations. Twelve of these will be installed in locations where there were no charging stations before. “We appreciate the added convenience and service of car charging that the powerful and innovative charging stations by The New Motion add,” said Mark van Haarsteren, Managing Director of Q-Park. “Our customers will also be able to remotely release a charging station when the battery is charged allowing another driver to use that charging station.”

We are excited about our partnership with Q-Park because we can provide a seamless service to our customers with the best electric charging solutions in the market,” adds André ten Bloemendal, CCO of The New Motion. “The use of electric cars is growing in Europe. The New Motion wants to be a pioneer in the delivery of smart charging solutions to businesses and travelers who want to manage their travel more efficiently. We are confident that electric car drivers are ready for a smarter way to optimize the charging infrastructure and the provision of services that allow you to operate charging stations remotely.”
