Car park Rotterdam Zuidplein wins European Parking Award
The Q-Park car park "Rotterdam Zuidplein" in The Netherlands has been voted the best renovated car park in Europe. The award was presented during the European Parking Association conference in London on October 1st.
The European Parking Association (EPA) presents awards for the best new and best renovated car parks every two years. The award for best renovated car park was won this year by Rotterdam Zuidplein, and the award for best new car park by Parking du Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland.
An independent jury reviews the new-build and renovation projects submitted by the parking industry. This year, a total of nine parking facilities located in six different European countries were nominated. A range of different project types were selected, including new facilities, renovation projects (Rotterdam Zuidplein) and special projects such as airport parking. The EPA award is not a cash prize but it is the most prestigious honour bestowed in the European parking sector.
The jury reviewed the projects in accordance with various fixed criteria, including customer friendliness, safety, location, neatness and tidiness, management, and equipment. The Zuidplein car park in Rotterdam underwent a complete renovation in 2002. The 1500+ parking spaces beneath Zuidplein shopping centre remained available to shoppers during the renovation work.
Q-Park is the parking industry market leader in the Netherlands and manages, operates or owns some 60,000 parking spaces. The company focuses on providing customer-oriented, quality parking facilities. Q-Park is one of the top five private parking companies in Europe and has branches in Belgium, Germany, France, the UK and Ireland.
