Jenbach Railway Station Gets a Park & Ride Car Park With the projekt w Safety Barrier Protection INTEGRA-pw
Reorganisation of the station forecourt in Jenbach, Austria, includes the construction of a new multi-storey car park with 6 levels in split-level construction. It will be located directly opposite the Zillertal Railway and offer covered parking spaces for 450 cars and 183 spaces for bicycles (partly on the parking deck and in the covered outdoor facilities) and scooters. There will be 4 parking spaces for electric vehicles as well, and additional facilities for e-charging infrastructure are in preparation.
The opening is scheduled for early October 2021, and the Park & Ride car park has been under construction since spring 2020, also due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The project was preceded by seven years of planning. Compounding the situation was the problem of procuring materials due to the current pricing policies and the shortage of available volumes in Europe.
MEISSL ARCHITECTS from Seefeld in Tirol took charge of planning the multi-storey car park for the railway station in Jenbach, which is a central transport hub connecting the ÖBB Inntal line, the Zillertal Railway and the Achensee Railway. The result is certainly impressive.
Around 1,250 metres of the INTEGRA-pw 943 safety barrier were installed in the outer axes, the central axes and the ramp areas to ensure that users of the multi-storey car park are as safe as they certainly will feel. INTEGRA-pw blends a safety barrier (railing) with collision protection in a single system solution. This is a sensible alternative to separate collision protection such as crash barriers, hollow profiles and suchlike.
INTEGRA-pw safety barriers have a maximum post-free span of 5,506 mm. In this project, the centre columns were spanned with a mesh length of 4.7 m across posts placed 2.50 m apart, which saved 50% in material and assembly costs.
