PlateSmart Announces License Plate Driven Access Control Solution

Award-winning LPR firm adds unprecedented functionality to flagship product

PlateSmart, the award-winning leader in License Plate Recognition (LPR), today announced the rollout of new access control functionality for ARES, its enterprise LPR-based video analytics platform. The new feature set in the ARES software will permit any organization to automatically control access to parking facilities using vehicles’ license plates.

Recently, LPR-based systems have been gaining momentum in the parking industry. The new development in PlateSmart’s ARES is the next and most advanced step in this trend, as the software allows for automatic, seamless parking operation with minimal human supervision. Businesses and other private facilities, such as residential developments, will be able to grant access to parking based solely on a list of license plates, eliminating the need to show an ID card or decal. Pay-to-park facilities can employ a ticketless system with better accountability—and therefore more consistent revenue—as all gate activities are automatically linked to license plates with additional information such as time/date stamps and location.

The ARES access control system is universally compatible with existing parking security solutions, like those from such well-known companies as Lenel and Amano-McGann. The solution was recently deployed by the Adventist Group Hospital in Orlando to control access to its parking garages. Cypress Computers, a top designer of security and access control products for over 30 years, contributed customized hardware for the deployment, which was facilitated by industry-leading integrator Cam Connections.

PlateSmart founder and CEO John Chigos said, “The future of parking is definitely LPR-driven. The technology allows for so much more accountability, so much better security than current systems can hope to provide. With ARES, PlateSmart continues to drive the cutting-edge of LPR technology by offering the most cost-effective and universally compatible parking security solution on the market.”
