Raleigh Launches Mobile Pay Parking App, Passport Parking

Visitors and residents can pay to park with their smartphones throughout downtown

Raleigh Launches Mobile Pay Parking App, Passport Parking

Today the City of Raleigh announced the launch of Passport Parking, a mobile app to facilitate payments for parking. Passport, the leading mobility platform provider, works with nearly 600 clients to help them manage their mobility ecosystems.

The citywide launch of Passport Parking comes after a successful pilot, executed with approximately 200 parking spots on Hillsborough Street. Now, the app can be used to pay for parking at more than 1,300 spaces downtown. In addition to using the app to pay for parking, users can extend a parking session remotely, eliminating the need to return to a meter to add more time. Parking session information, payment history and email receipts are also available through the app.

We are very excited about our partnership with Passport and the deployment of the mobile pay solution to our greater downtown area,” said Paul Kallam, assistant director of infrastructure at Raleigh’s Transportation Department. “Our goal is to improve how we make data-driven decisions and that begins with using state-of-the-art technology for a seamless account of what is happening in our city. We want to continue our efforts to expand on our parking management initiatives, aimed at providing convenient, safe, and easy parking for everyone.”

Now, Passport-powered parking solutions are implemented in three of North Carolina’s largest cities - Raleigh, Charlotte and Durham - as well as Asheville and Wilmington.

With Passport Parking now available in Raleigh, Passport is thrilled to celebrate another launch in our home state of North Carolina,” said Kelsey Owens, sales director at Passport, “We are dedicated to helping every city transform their mobility management with our technology solutions to create more efficient operations and positive experiences for drivers.”

Drivers can download the free Passport Parking app from the App Store, Google Play or manage online at passportparking.com.
