Lansing Launches Passport Parking Mobile App for Parking Payments

Passport at Lansing

Beginning today, drivers in Lansing, Michigan can use the Passport Parking app to pay for on street parking at nearly 3,000 spaces throughout the downtown area. The app, powered by mobility management company, Passport, enables users to digitally pay for parking without using a meter or paystation.

The Passport Parking app makes parking simple. Users download the free app and create an account with their vehicle and payment information and then can start a parking session. When time expires, users are notified and have the option to extend the session without having to return to their vehicle.

Since taking office in January 2018, I have received many requests for an updated parking system in the downtown Lansing area. I’m excited to announce that we will now have this new mobile app available for everyone,” said Andy Schor, Lansing Mayor. “The mobile pay technology is reliable and convenient for the users and will help increase revenue to the City, while also reducing the number of tickets given. Our visitors will be able to shop, eat or remain in their meetings without having to run outside and feed the meter. Lansing’s time is now and I’m thrilled to move Lansing’s parking system into the 21st century!

Passport works with nearly 1,000 clients worldwide, including many in the state of Michigan, including Grand Rapids, New Buffalo, Ferndale and Michigan State University. In Detroit, Passport operates the Park Detroit parking app and the Dart app for buses and streetcars.

We are excited to bring our technology to another city in Michigan and help the City of Lansing digitize and modernize their operations,” said Tom Wiese, sales director at Passport. “With the Passport Parking app, drivers can park, pay directly from their smartphones, and then get on with their day.”

The Passport Parking app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Users can also manage their parking online at passportparking.com.
