Partial Collapse of Parking Garage at Nieuwegein Hospital

- Nieuwegein, The Netherlands
St. Antonius Hospital

A section of the parking garage at St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein partially collapsed. The incident occurred around 10 p.m, outside normal visiting hours, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries.

Authorities immediately secured the area, ensuring the safety of hospital staff, patients, and visitors. Firefighters and police were on the scene to conduct thorough searches and secure the structure. Hospital operations continue unaffected, with all medical services running as scheduled.

The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation. Structural engineers and safety inspectors are working to determine the factors that led to the incident. Initial reports suggest that the collapse affected a small portion of the garage, causing minimal damage to surrounding vehicles.

St. Antonius Hospital's management expressed relief that there were no casualties and thanked emergency responders for their prompt action. "Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of everyone on our premises. We are cooperating fully with the authorities to understand the cause of this incident and to prevent any future occurrences," said a hospital spokesperson.

Patients and visitors are advised to use alternative parking facilities provided by the hospital while the affected area remains closed. Further updates will be communicated as more information becomes available.
