Taiwanese License Plate Recognition Technology Shines as It Exports to the Philippines

High Accuracy Becomes an Alternative Pride of Taiwan

The building spans approximately 9,300 square meters and provides over 1,500 parking spaces.

Leading Technology, Smart Future - License Plate Recognition System Successfully Implemented at MAAX Building Parking Lot.

The Mall of Asia Arena Annex Building (MAAX), a modern architectural marvel with seven levels of parking topped by four office floors, is located in a prime city center location. Surrounded by attractions such as the dessert museum, SM Group's Mall of Asia, amusement parks, and the MOA concert grounds, the building spans approximately 9,300 square meters and provides over 1,500 parking spaces, offering a comfortable and convenient parking solution for Manila's vehicle ratio similar to Taiwan's.

Unlike other large-scale parking facilities in the Philippines, the management of MAAX saw an opportunity to improve efficiency in light of rising labor costs and high error rates associated with manual operations. Especially during events and holiday peaks, the introduction of a license plate recognition system was deemed necessary. After extensive coordination with Parkxper Parking Speed from Taiwan, multiple trips were made to ensure the accuracy of construction plans, materials, and equipment, leading to the successful implementation supported by the strong research and development team behind the brand.

Philippines' License Plates: Complex Challenges Overcome by World's Strongest Recognition Engine

With multiple changes in the design and format of vehicle plates over the years, Philippine license plates feature highly varied fonts making misidentification likely. Motorcycle plates have even included over 13-digit handwritten numbers. Additionally, drivers often mount new plates over old ones, making both visible and complicating recognition. Aiming for the highest quality and customer satisfaction, the development team maximized the database allowing the machine to learn deeply and achieve recognition accuracy above 99% before delivery. The system also overcame issues with cash and coin recognition in payment machines, and electronic payment services are set to launch soon. The recognition system, which remained operational even during the strong Typhoon Kammuri, amusingly identified license plate reflections in puddles, greatly impressing the Philippine management team.

Standing Out in the Global Market by Quality, Pioneering Smart City Development Starting with Parking

Despite facing price competition from Chinese brands, collaborations with Parkxper Parking Speed have consistently received high satisfaction and positive feedback from international clients who note that Chinese competitors often fail to meet quality standards, wasting money and time. We are honored to partner with MAAX, providing industry-leading License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology and contributing to smart city development. Soon, we will expand services at MAAX and other key parking facilities with Parking Guidance Systems (PGS), allowing drivers to find available spots quickly through LED indicators linked to license plate cameras. With car finding terminals, drivers can easily locate their cars by entering their license numbers. Moving forward, we will continue to innovate technologically, providing efficient parking solutions to global clients and advancing the development of smart cities.
