ParkNOW! Expands to Charlotte County, Florida
Starting this week drivers in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, El Jobean, Englewood, Gulf Cove and Placida will have a new convenient way to pay for beach and boat ramp parking using their cell phones. This new payment option offers customers a convenient way to pay for parking from the comfort of their car, or enroute to the beach or fishing. Plus, customers can add time to their parking sessions without returning to the parking lot.
In addition to paying with coins or bills, Charlotte County residents and visitors can now can use their cell phones to pay for parking. All of the metered parking spaces at Charlotte County beaches and boat ramps began offering this optional payment method to facilitate the payment process and help drivers avoid parking tickets. While paying at meters is still an option, the ParkNOW! system offers drivers a convenient payment option using any cell phone, smartphone app or web. Once registered, customers can start parking in just a few seconds – while walking to the beach or onboard a boat.
Prominent signs in lots throughout Charlotte Country indicate the availability of the new ParkNOW! pay by cell service. Signing up is easy. Customers complete the one-time registration process in advance online at parknow.us, or on the spot by phone or smartphone app or tablet.
Once registered, parking is easy. Customers can call the local phone number, 941 564-7746 and follow the voice prompts. Or, using the ParkNOW! app, customers can initiate parking by either scanning the QR code on the post or manually entering the location number and parking duration. Alternatively, customers can log into their personal web page at parknow.us to start a parking session by web.
Once a customer has parked via ParkNOW!, the system automatically updates the paid spaces on the parking enforcement officers’ handheld devices. Customers receive confirmation messages or emails, and can request reminders of expiring parking sessions. Parking time can be added remotely by calling the same phone number or extending from the app or web interface.
In addition to the parking fee, customers will be charged a $.35 convenience fee.
