ParkCloud trades the car park for the runway
ParkCloud’s Mark Pegler and Joe Kennedy fly off to Budapest next weekend for the bud:runway run taking place on Saturday 6th September in support of child cancer charities.
The event has been organised by host airport Budapest, and air transport news source anna.aero, with support from Nike and airline Wizz Air. The second of its kind, this much talked about event in the aviation calendar follows a trial that took place last year.
Self-confessed “non-sports man” Mark, who admitted he would have to purchase trainers for the occasion, said he is “giving training a lot of serious thought” and would be “sticking to the 6km minimum requirement”. Whilst on the other side of Team ParkCloud, Joe Kennedy, the company’s Operations Director, is taking things more seriously, and aims to go for the whole 12km run, 4 lengths of Budapest Airport’s runway (and has taken training one step further by actually doing some!). Together they have managed to clear up exactly what it is a runway run involves…
The two will be up against runners from around 40 airlines, 50 airports, and a number of other service providers from the air transport industry. It will be a 1st visit to airport runways for ParkCloud, whose business usually takes place on the other side of the terminals, in the car parks. ParkCloud’s parking reservation systems are already used by fellow participant Allgäu Airport, in Germany, as well as low-fares airline Ryanair, and race organiser Wizz Air, both partnered with ParkCloud to provide online parking bookings to their passengers.
Other contenders taking to the tarmac next weekend include glory seekers from across Europe, along with a few from as far away as Canada, Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia! Up for grabs are prizes such as “Fastest Airline in the World”, “Fastest Airport CEO”, and the “Golden Cake Trophies”, which ParkCloud hopes (very optimistically) to bring home to the UK.
