HUB Drives the Technological Renewal of Fontanarossa International Airport in Catania, Sicily

Simple, convenient and efficient: that is the renewed parking offer at the Catania Fontanarossa international airport, thanks to the radical modernization of the parking system created by HUB Italia.

Building on the experience of installations at national and international airports throughout Europe and worldwide, HUB has driven the entire renovation project of the parking areas of Fontanarossa to the best levels of service, technological and safety standards: the total number of 2500 parking spaces and 15 gates are equipped with the most recent peripherals, integrated with advanced LPR system and with Telepass, to guarantee users a smoother circulation in the parking areas.

Since the beginning of 2018, the 6 parking areas P1-P6 have been completely revised in terms of layout and operational management. The peripherals at the access lanes, the LED barriers, the new parking guidance system with variable messages and the 8 payment stations with QR reader are monitored and managed remotely thanks to JMS, Janus Management System. From a single control center, the operator manages the entire parking system in an intuitive and advanced way, from the access of a single vehicle, on to the real-time assistance through VoIP, up to the management of validations and online reservations that users set up on the airport website.

The complete reliability of the system is also assured by a HUB technician dedicated to the project, to guarantee the very high levels of assistance required by the airport.

Some interventions - including the total renewal of  the first 4 areas with the installation of JMS, the integration with Telepass and the plate recognition system - have already been completed, others are in progress or are soon to be implemented: in fact, the potential of HUB system ranges from the JunglePass app for the online booking and management through smartphone, to the advanced digital platforms for the management of validations and subscriptions from third parties (eg. shops within the airport) up to video advertising and marketing solutions with JDS, Janus Digital Signage. HUB installation represents a tangible step forward in terms of efficiency and usability of the services available to customers, and the completion of works is expected by 2018.
