Hectronic presents its one-stop park and charge concept at the new trade fair for electric mobility
The eCarTec trade fair for electric mobility was recently held for the first time in Munich. Exhibitors presented electric vehicles, storage technologies, and drive and engine technologies to a total of 12,000 visitors. And Hectronic had something quite special to show with its one-stop park and charge concept. More specifically: a combination of the HecCharger charging station and CITEA parking machine.
Preparations had to be made quickly. Only a few weeks separated Hectronics decision to attend the eCarTec from the first day of the trade fair. This was primarily because the idea behind the concept that would set us apart had only just taken form, explains Stefan de Boor. However, this hasty decision certainly proved worthwhile and, as the Hectronic Key Account Manager/Parking reported, the trade fair provided an ideal platform for innovative ideas.
And the one-stop park and charge solution presented on Hectronics exhibition stand is undeniably an innovative idea. Hectronic has enjoyed international success in both these areas for a number of years, and it was an obvious choice to combine the two should the opportunity arise. Which it certainly did at the electric mobility trade fair.
The pressure was on to develop the HecCharger station for recharging the batteries of electric vehicles. Charging is carried out while the vehicle is parked, which is where the CITEA parking machine that is used to pay both the parking fee and the energy costs comes into play. This expands the parking lot to include battery charging, explains Stefan de Boor.
This combination a unique proposition at the trade fair generated a great deal of interest amongst the attendees. We certainly had our hands full over the entire three days, recalls Stefan de Boor who provided information on the stand together with Alexander Wilkens, sales manager at Hectronic partner company ght GmbH in Nuremberg. We received a great deal of praise for our concept and were pleased to receive comments including the best thing Ive heard today and the cleverest solution, reports Stefan de Boor. Based on this feedback and other factors, he views the trade fair presence as a resounding success.
There was also a great deal of questions. After all, the eCarTec was breaking new ground and, according to Robert Metzger, managing director and organiser of the trade fair, There has never been an event like this before.
What protection is there against energy theft? How quickly can a cars battery be charged? Will there be a standard charging connector and, if so, what will it look like? These questions, and many more besides, occupied the minds of the experts in attendance, and not every question had a clear-cut answer. However, the experts did agree on one thing: the demand is already there and will continue to grow significantly in future. Nonetheless, it is still impossible to say exactly where this route will lead. And why should it be any different? After all, the electric car is only just setting out on its journey, even if there are already vehicles that can travel at 200 km/h and with a range of 400 kilometres. In this current, early phase, everyone is sounding out the situation, says Stefan de Boor, and it is important for us that we are on hand with an effective solution.
