Servicing The Troop: Gorilla Post Maintenance
Winter takes a toll on everyone and everything. Maintaining your Magnetic Gorilla Post system during the cold and inclement weather can be critical to preserving the performance and quality of the product. No matter if you’re from Washington or Wyoming, New York or New Mexico, it is very important to keep your Gorilla Post working at its best! Magnetic Gorilla Posts were originally designed for the capital city of bad weather, Portland, OR! Intended originally as an all-weather alternative to booting single-space parking meters, Gorilla Posts had bad weather on the mind from the very beginning. There are only a few things that are required to keep a Magnetic Gorilla Post healthy and working properly, and the experts at The ParkingZone are going to walk you through everything you need to know!
First starting at the bottom with the base plate. Regardless of the application (concrete or asphalt), both versions of the magnetic Gorilla Post base plate are made from high-quality stainless steel, with the asphalt version including stainless steel lag screws and shields. Known for its rust-proof, anti-corrosion, and strength properties, stainless steel was chosen for this piece as it is to be affixed permanently into place and must withstand exposure indoors or out 24/7. Maintaining this piece of the Gorilla Post system is very easy. The center hole must be kept clear and free of any debris or other material, so that the post may stay centered on the base plate. Also regularly clean the base plate with a metallic brush so that the Gorilla Post has as flat a surface as possible to ensure complete attachment and full functionality.
Moving up to the main delineator portion of the Gorilla Post where the magnet cup assembly, a trio of neodymium magnets are held into channel grooves with stainless steel bands, again to withstand rust and corrosion. The entire magnet assembly is covered by a recycled rubber boot, which helps both protect the magnets themselves, as well as prevent debris from getting stuck to the top or bottom of the magnet assembly. To clean and maintain the cup magnet and bottom of a Gorilla post, use a metallic brush to clear any loose metallic debris from the stainless steel magnet covers which can prevent it from making full contact with the plate. This can reduce the strength and effectiveness of the Gorilla Post, and is a vital maintenance procedure. When installing for the first time, also make sure to remove any packaging or shipping material such as the plastic disk attached to the underside of the post. This disk can ruin the effectiveness of the post or create opportunities for damage.
Keeping the entire parking operation looking fresh and clean gives an up-scale and cared-for feel, and is easily achieved with the Gorilla Post system. The upper tube assemblies are made from polypropylene and are easily cleaned with various basic household cleaners. To remove most marks or blemishes, simply use a small amount of cleaner sprayed onto a microfiber cloth. For extra stubborn marks, try using a Magic Eraser pad in combination with the cleaner. This will clear the surface of the post completely without harming the material itself.
Maintaining your Magnetic Gorilla Post system is an easy, but essential part in the lifespan of the product. Not only will you see longer life cycles of products in service, but you will see better performance overall. Removing and installing the post becomes easier, and you will always get the full strength of the patented magnet system to hold the post in place.
