Flowbird: New, Intelligent, and Ecological Parking Meters Arrive in Bari, Italy

- Paris, France
Flowbird has installed 145 Strada Touch terminals in Bari’s city center.

Azienda Mobilità e Trasporti Autobus Bari (AMTAB), the authority responsible for public transportation in the city of Bari in Italy, has chosen Flowbird to modernize its parking terminals. This follows the award of a grant by Pon Metro, a program that supports 14 cities in Italy, including Bari, to meet the challenges of intelligent, inclusive, and sustainable growth.

Flowbird has installed 145 Strada Touch terminals in Bari’s city center. These multi-function mobility devices bring a simpler, more convenient parking payment experience to drivers. With a user-friendly, 9.7” touchscreen interface, it’s easy for users to register their license plates; select and pay for parking sessions, park-and-ride, and fines; and renew expired permits or transport tickets.

The terminals are compliant with ADA standards for accessible design that make information and data entry easier for users of all abilities. To further enhance inclusiveness, a full range of payment methods are accepted, including cash, chip & PIN, and contactless EMV.

Supporting Bari’s mission to reduce the impact of mobility infrastructure on the environment, the new hardware supplied by Flowbird is environmentally friendly. Each device features a large solar panel with four rotation directions to capture solar energy. In addition, tickets can be issued digitally, and the reduction of printing receipts saves on energy and paper.

Bari’s new terminals double-up as transit ticket vending machines for Bari's ABT system, enabling the purchase of bus travel tickets and the availability of an infomobility transit system. Mobile payments (via QR-code), the MUVT transit smartcard, and electronic identity cards (CIE) are supported as transit payment methods, making it easier than ever to park-and-ride.

Further multi-merchant opportunities can be leveraged by Bari in the future, as the terminals can become 24-hour hubs for all types of mobility and tourist services - potentially enabling EV park and charge payments and ticket purchases for local attractions and events.
